The Work Foundation fringe [1] at Lib Dem Party conference in Liverpool this week which was framed around the Foundations new report “Body and Soul: exploring the connection between physical and mental conditions for a healthier economy” [2] was clearly highly topical as conference goers packed out the lunchtime event.

Royal Mail privatisation: public sector pensions claim another victim
The coalition government announced today that Royal Mail is going to be privatised. The economic argument is of course no stronger than it has been every other time the sale of Royal Mail has been touted, but in an age of austerity, it is no surprise that the government wants to get this loss-making enterprise off the balance-sheet.
Retirement RIP?
Last night’s Newsnight was themed as “Retirement RIP”. It provided a useful opportunity to consider how our perceptions and attitudes towards work and retirement will need to change.
Confused About Care
People of all ages continue to be confused by care options and funding, new research by our friends at Counsel and Care has revealed. The survey, as part of ElderCare week found that the majority (79%) don’t think enough is done to tell people of the care options available. Only 5% believe the social care system is easy to navigate.
